Student Detail

My Name is:Christopher
I Live In: ,Canada
I Am: 17 Yrs Old
In Grade: 12
I Am: M

I signed up for the Earning My Tuition program because My mom heard about the program on the radio. I have been bugging her to quit smoking since I was a little boy. She quit on August 31 this year. She has been bugging me to graduate. I have a lot of friends who have dropped out this year and are now making lots of money. I am not that interested in staying in school so my Mom thought that maybe this would motivate me to finish.

I am planning on using my funds for My Dad wants to move to Thailand and he owns an excavating business in Red Deer. I would probably use the money to help me buy the business from him. If not to buy the business, I would use the money to travel and experience different cultures.

What I am interested in being when I grow up I want to take over my Dad\'s business which is an excavating business. I like to operate large machinery such as back hoes and cats.

I think kids should graduate smoke-free because I am trying to make my Mom happy and finish school but I find it difficult to understand how the government in Russia (i.e. Social Studies) is going to help me be a better equipment operator which is what I want to do for a living. My mother says that graduating at least gives me the option to have other choices in case I change my mind.

My parents think that the Earning My Tuition Program is valuable for me because I feel that it is very important in today's economic conditions to have diversity and education. I think children should spend the time they have to be children and attend school to learn and experience different things and obtain an understanding of where their interests are in an effort to live a rewarding and passionate life doing what they love to do for a living. Young people today want to grow up and make money faster than they need to and end up taking jobs that aren't rewarding for them in order to get more "things". I think the REWARDS program could be valuable for students who are hard to motivate or for those who are motivated by money as it will provide them with some financial means to look forward to when they graduate. I know that it has been very difficult to motive my son to stay in school and I think the opportunity to have some money at the end may do it.
